Scopum's integration with MailChimp enables easy and efficient synchronisation of your rich and clean data warehouse data with MailChimp's marketing email personalization service, so as to accurately target users in your campaigns.
Synchronize user data between your data warehouse and MailChimp on a recurring basis (hourly/daily) or ad-hoc, creating and updating users in MailChimp based on information from your data warehouse.
To setup the intgeration with Mailchimp, you will be asked to provide credentials for Mailchimp and your data soure.
Required data for MailChimp
- Mailchimp API Key
- Mailchimp Audience ID
The following steps describe how to obtain the information you need to set up your Scopum integration with Mailchimp.
Step 1. Get Your MailChimp API Key
To get your MailChimp API Key, select the Account menu under your profile name in Mailchimp. On your Account page, select Extras | API Keys
You can copy your API key from the section entitled Your API Keys.
Step 2. Get Your Audience ID
To obtain the Audience ID, select Audience in the MailChimp menu, and then select the audience you want to synchronize.
Under the audience's Settings menu, select Audience name and defaults.
The Audience ID is displayed on the right of the Audience name and Campaign Defaults screen.
In order to map fields from your data source (e.g data warehouse), you need to provide merge tags that correspond to each MailChimp field you want to map.
To specify merge tags:
- Select your Audience in Mailchimp.
- Under the Settings menu, select Audience fields and *|MERGE|* tags.
- In the Audience fields and *|MERGE|* tags screen, add merge tags for any field that you want to use in your campaign targeting.
Note: A merge tag for EMAIL is required for the integration with Scopum. This field is usually already present after the audience in Mailchimp was created.
Step 4. Setup the connection in Scopum
If you aren’t signed into your Scopum account, sign in now.
Select the Connections menu item and click Add Target.
Locate and select the Mailchimp icon.
Fill in the fields as follows:
Name: Choose a name for this Mailchimp data target. For example ‘My Mailchimp Target’
API key: Enter your Mailchimp API key (Step 1)
Audience ID: Enter your Mailchimp Audience ID (Step 2)
Step 5: Save the target
When finished, click Save.
Scopum will perform a connection test to Mailchimp; if successful, a Success! message will display at the top of the screen. If unsuccessful, please double-check the entered Mailchimp credentials.
Note: This test may take a few minutes to complete.
You have just completed the setup of Mailchimp as your data source.
